    Description

1847 SEATED LIBERTY DOLLAR NGC MS 61 LUSTROUS AND WELL STRUCK IN GLOSSY PEWTER. Really clean surfaces, with a very elusive hairline patch in the lower right obverse quadrant the apparent point of complaint, I guess. Actually looks Choice, and Oh So Majestic!
The mintage for Seated Liberty Dollars, across all dates and mints, as well as No Motto and With Motto, is 6,488,937. Of that original mintage, an accepted estimate of extant survivors is around 82,000...1.27%. Of that number, about 31,500 in all grades have been reported by PCGS and NGC combined. And finally, of that much smaller ( though probably inflated) number, a quick tally of PCGS and NGC combined, have seen about 5900 MS Seated Dollars. So, that's about 19% of all certified coins, a little over 7% of ALL estimated survivors  (82,000), and about .09% of the original mintage. The numbers are ' back of the envelope", but one thing is certain, nice Seated Dollars are the definition of scarce.
