This is a three piece hair brush, comb, and hand mirror set from the early 1940's that belonged to my mother. She really didn't use the brush, but the mirror and comb did get used. The three pieces are made from a heavy olive green bakelite plastic with a pearlized pattern throughout. The brush is very clean with no odors or discoloration on the bristles.
The painted gold and black pattern on the back of the hair brush is worn along one side a bit and there is a little of the black scroll line at the center that is missing. The bristles in the brush have variable length and show very little evidence of use.
Its over-all legth is 9 3/4 inches. The handle is 4 1/2 inches long. Over-all width is 3 inches at the widest point on the brush. The handle tapers from 3/4 inch at the outer end to 1/2 inch at the bristle end.
The paint on the back of the hand mirror is worn off entirely on one side. There is a small rust colored dot on that side as well. The mirror is in good condition. It is a 6 inch high oval that is 3 3/4 inches wide at the center. The over-all length of the hand mirror is 13 inches and it is nearly 5 inches wide at the widest point. The handle is 6 1/4 inches long and tapers from a 1 inch width at the outer end to 3/4 inch at the baseof the mirror.
The comb has seen the most use. It is sturdy but there are 3 teeth missing plus the end piece on one end. The teeth are tapered and change from green to gold at the tip end. Each tooth is just over one inch long. They are not sharp on the ends at all, making the comb comfortale to use. Half of the comb has thinner teeth and the other half has 22 teeth that are thicker and wider apart. There should be 36 of the thinner teeth but two are missing. Over-all length of the comb is 8 1/2 inches and it is 1 5/8 inch tall.
