  • Condition: Condition is very good with minimal dings in the center monogram area. No other dents or dings. The brush handle does have 2 short cracks along the edge about 1.5" up from the narrowest point of the handle. It does not impact the brushes stability in any way. Good Brush with little to no shedding. Brush part is slightly loose from the Sterling Top, but not uncommon in these, but brush is super secure and would have to be pulled out as it would not fall out on its own.

    Description

    This is an Estate Fresh old Art Nouveau Hand Brush that is classic Nouveau.  It boasts a super Sterling Silver back  with big typical Art Nouveau Flowers Bud heads and Filigree highlighted by a large Satyr looking head and a couple Cupids or Nymphs, all of this with Deep Heavy Relief or Repousse' work.  Really beautiful.  The handle is marked on one edge with the makers mark C.W which is for William Comyns.  The other hallmarks do represent the Lion head for London, and the "S" in a shield which is the year mark for 1893 and a hallmark of the 4 Leg Lion which is the English Sterling mark at the time.  The Brush is just wonderful and from a High quality Silver mfg of the time.  Its relief work is nice and deep and shows its high quality.  The center is an undecorated smooth area for a monogram which looks like "SMC" but kinda hard to tell.  The brush is 9.5
    " long x 2.25" wide at the widest and is on bristles at 1" long.
