    Description

For sale is a Machinist/ Tool Maker built fixture, the exact purpose for I am not sure of. I will do my best to provide measurements and features of this unique built apparatus. It may have been used for an Engineering Application for Grinding or Scraping as there is a clamping head on the top that is slotted and measures approximately: 4-5/8" long x 1-5/16" wide and is slotted [My guess is a thin metal or rubber  blade was clamped in the 4-3/4" wide head for interference with another surface]. The second half of the clamp to hold the blade piece down is missing but easily crafted from flat stock. The blade head pivots up and down and can have the radial angle locked in place using a black finger thumb wheel (see pictures). Also the Head pivots from side to side about 10 degrees in each direction and this appears to be freely floating to "find" the correct angle with the surface it is mating with. There are small cap screws for what appears to be the ability to adjust the contact point from right to left.
There is a small precision micro bed manual slide which moves the fixture to interfere with a surface in the x-direction.   The base of the bed currently has bolts with wing nuts to secure the base and the bed itself has a fine 0-0.5" travel using a STARRETT # 463 micrometer to finely adjust the bed of travel.  Each rotation of the micrometer is 0.25" travel in 0.001" increments. The UNI-SLIDE is a model A1500 micro slide assembled and sold by VELMEX , INC. EAST BLOOMFIELD HOLCOMB N.Y. 14469. These are very expensive precision micro slides.
There are additional holes and pillow blocks that swivel that could possibly hold cables or weights for counter balance. The total fixture in its present state weighs about 2 pounds 9 ounces and measures approx. 7" tall x 4-3/4" wide x 5" long. Any tool makers and machinist can appreciate the man hours used to create this. See pictures along with the description
