Sterling Silver 1880s Vanity Travel Set Thomas Whitehouse Bramah Lock.  This is a beautiful set.  There is one crystal bottom that is missing and one that is broken but the pieces are there in case would would want to somehow try to repair or replace it.  The knife has been replaced and is not original.  The bottom drawer has a small tear.  There is a scratch going all the way across the top.  The top does have a monogram in the center and dated 1884 although the silver piece that I check dated 1880.  Thomas Whitehous, London Silversmith  is known for beautiful Travel Vanity Sets in the late Eighteen Hundreds.  Bramah Locks are known to be one of the best high quality locks that often have a hidden compartment.  The key works beautifully and has to be gently pushed in and turned full circle around for the lock to open.  The vanity mirror with the little hidden compartment for correspondence or such has a small button on the inside top by the lock that has to be pushed to reveal the mirror and pouch.  The bottom drawer is a small caddy that can fit jewelry and pocket watch.  This is just an outstanding piece that you just do not see that often.  Please contact with any questions.
