The workmanship as we all know requires no explanation.
9” Long
The design is taken from mythology and features the god Cupid tenderly kissing Psyche to bring her back to life. They are surrounded by heavenly clouds as this is the moment of the actual kiss and Psyche has not yet emerged from her lifeless slumber. She presents passively, while Cupid urgently but tenderly clasps her face in his hand so that his kiss to her lips will be true.
Amazing repousse on the top, in outstanding condition. Crisp, sharply defined details.
The body of the brush is in very good condition with very minor denting ( 1 very small shallow dent on each side, negligible, and 3 small dents in the end of the handle. See images 7, 8 and 9).
There is a rattling sound when you shake the brush. This is some old dried glue that has broken free. The wood base is lifting up at the front.
Having said all that, it looks beautiful and would enhance any dressing table.
