    Description

Fresh from the estate of a buyer for Denver's now defunct JHB International, this sample card measures 5 by 7 and features 34 buttons or studs (for shoes? for hats? for gloves?).
Bottom of card describes American Shoe Specialties (318 West 39th St. New York) as "manufacturers, importers and creators of fine metal specialties and plastic ornaments." It has an old format phone number (BRyant 9-9636) and uses the word
    plastic
    (
    Bakelite
was invented in 1907). Sizes are 12 to 30 ligne.
Buttons are mostly riveted to the card, though 4 have round metal shanks and are sewn on. One button is a 2 hole flat. Two are simply round barrels.
